Footage of serious human rights violations emerges (VIDEO)

Shocking footage recorded by political opponent Rachid Nekkaz from his office’s balcony shows serious human rights violations perpetrated by police officers.

Only in the capital Algiers, there are currently more than 50 demonstrators held in custody. And that’s just the number of demonstrators that managed to get their names out, many more are believed to be incarcerated.

A forum for dialogue chaired by Abdelaziz Rahabi, another regime loyalist with little credibility, was launched yesterday; the forum was largely denounced as a distraction by the inhabitants of the country.

One of the reasons behind the lack of trust by the population in the army’s ability to guide a democratic transition is the fact that Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s men are still in control of the daily affairs of the country. Sabri Boukadoum, Noureddine Ayadi, Abdelkader Kara Bouhadba, Noureddine Bedoui, amongst many others are Bouteflika loyalists who profiteered under the latter’s dictatorship but are still calling the shots in the country’s daily affairs. Most ministers have little credibility, for example the Minister of Culture, Meriem Merdaci, is regularly the subject of mockery during demonstrations because of her past as a promo girl.

The video below may be distressing to some viewers.

Abdelkader Kara Bouhadba is the current chief of the Algerian police.
